Det. Steve Berry with the department told KTAR News 92.3 FM that Bumgarner was found in a west Mesa apartment. He said there were no issues taking the teen into custody.
The department’s alert said the teen took a loaded Taurus .9mm handgun from his father’s safe before leaving.
The boy was new to the area and was thought to be on foot at the time.
Berry said there is no need for the teen to seek any medical attention.
