PHOENIX — Authorities are working to identify human remains that were found in the north Valley last week.
Sgt. Bryant Vanegas with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in an email that the remains were found by a resident in the desert in the area of 11th Street and Alameda Road in Phoenix around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 10.
Detectives soon determined that the remains appeared to be that of a human and transported them to the medical examiner’s office.
It was not immediately known whether the remains were of a male or a female or how long they were there.
An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
The investigation was ongoing.
