Arizona State University radio station cracks top 5 best-of-college list

PHOENIX — A popular college-admission service company has ranked Arizona State University No. 4 for best college radio stations.
The Princeton Review list for 2019 was released this week.
Student-run KASC-AM, known as the Blaze, operates 24 hours a day during the school year.
No other Arizona school station was tapped for inclusion. ASU was the only Western school to make the top 10.
The station offers news, talk, and sports and is heard on all four campuses — Tempe main, ASU West, ASU Downtown Phoenix and ASU Polytechnic in Mesa — and is overseen by a Walter Cronkite School faculty adviser.
The ranking was based on student input in the extracurriculars category. They were asked, “How popular is the college radio station?”
The review also covered eight other areas: academics and administration, quality of life, politics, campus life, town life, social life, social scene, and schools by type (party schools, etc.).
Bloggers at Radio Survivor reported that the results were built on three years’ of survey data.
About 138,000 students at 384 colleges across the country participated.
The top station belonged to tiny Manhattanville College, located north of New York City in Purchase. Enrollment is 1,725. ASU has 42,427 students.
Emerson College in Boston was second, St. Bonaventure in New York was third, and Syracuse was fifth.
