PHOENIX — Travelers in and around downtown Phoenix on Monday night should expect heavy traffic, with the Arizona Diamondbacks in town and country pop superstar Shania Twain playing next door.
The Diamondbacks are back home after a seven-game road trip to host the Texas Rangers at 6:40 p.m. at Chase Field (401 E Jefferson St.).
Meanwhile, Twain’s “Now” tour hits Talking Stick Resort Arena (201 E Jefferson St.) with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
The singer’s first U.S. tour since 2015, which kicked off on May 3, is winding down. Only three shows remain after the Phoenix date, with the finale scheduled for Saturday in Las Vegas.
In addition to the game and concert, downtown will be the site of a candlelight vigil for the Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper who was killed in the line of duty last week.
The vigil for Trooper Tyler Edenhofer was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza (1700 W. Washington St.), east of the state Capitol.
DPS Director Col. Frank Milstead and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey were scheduled to speak during the vigil at 8 p.m.
