PHOENIX — Election season is officially in full swing in Arizona and with the primary elections just weeks away, the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office is encouraging residents to register to vote.

The Arizona state primary elections will take place on Aug. 28, but in order to participate, residents must be registered to vote by July 30.

Recorder Adrian Fontes said residents can vote on ServiceArizona.com, the Arizona Department of Transportation’s website, or Maricopa.Vote.

“The process to register really is not complicated at all,” Fontes told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

Residents just have to provide proof of citizenship and other information, such as their full name, date of birth, current address and a phone number or email address.

They will also need to provide the last four digits of their social security numbers or driver’s license number in order to verify their identity.

Fonte said residents can also register to vote while they get their driver’s license, if they are from out of state or just reached legal voting age.

“The partnership with our citizens is the most important thing about our elections,” Fonte said.

Darron Moffatt with the Arizona Secretary of State’s office told KTAR News 92.3 FM that early ballots will be mailed out on Wednesday and voters should see them in their mailboxes about four days after that point.

KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Taylor Kinnerup and Jim Cross contributed to this report.
