PHOENIX — The upcoming midterm elections are quickly approaching, meaning political signs are sure to start popping up all across Arizona.
For some Arizonans, that means making their political views known in the form of yard signs.
But according to a new study, some of those in the Grand Canyon State don’t take too kindly to their neighbors’ signs.
ShieldCo, a leading custom business signage and decor company, asked 3,000 Americans how they feel about yard signs in the neighborhood. And according to the data, 34.6 percent of Arizonans find them “irritating.”
Arizonans ranked second overall for the least tolerant in the country behind California, who had 49 percent of its residents say they would be irritated by a political yard sign on their neighbors’ property.
While residents of Arizona may have a short fuse, they do, however, believe that each individual should be allowed to express their political beliefs.
The survey showed that 30.4 percent of Americans as a whole would have an issue with political signs in their neighbors’ yard.
But when it comes to the state that is the most lenient, only 5.9 percent of Arkansas residents say they would have an issue with their neighbors’ expressing their political opinions in the form of signage.
