PHOENIX — A Scottsdale woman is behind bars for allegedly running over and killing her 94-year-old husband, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office announced this week.
Marie Carmen Rudd, 70, is being charged with second-degree murder for the death of William Max Rudd.
John Paxton, a spokesman with the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, told KTAR News 92.3 FM that William Rudd was found in May on the side of the road with severe trauma in Forest Lakes, a northern Arizona town about 115 miles from the Phoenix-area city.
“We determined that she may have been more involved than what she was saying initially,” he added.
“Evidence was seized and ultimately we determined that she was possibly responsible for the death of her husband.”
Marie Rudd was arrested for the murder last month, Paxton said. She is currently being held on $500,000 bond.
Paxton said a motive for the death has not yet been determined.
