PHOENIX — The saga of a dog trapped recently in a northern Arizona storm drain — while thunderstorms were brewing — had a happy ending.
Firefighters from the Flagstaff Fire Department came to the rescue of the imprisoned pooch, and it was all captured on video.
Video of the incident posted to the Northland Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., Facebook page on Friday had been viewed more than 10,000 times as of Monday morning.
The post said the dog was trapped in front of the hospice’s office, in a drain that has a history of flooding.
Two days after the post, Flagstaff was slammed by monsoon storms that caused heavy flooding in parts of the city.

In a comment on the post, the hospice said the dog was initially spotted by pedestrians.
There was no indication of how long the dog had been stuck in the drain or how it got there.
The dog, which had a collar with tags, appeared calm throughout the ordeal and didn’t react as firefighters worked to remove the metal grate above it.
Just before the dog was extracted, a voice could be heard saying it could come into the office.
At the end of the video, the dog was happily crunching on treats inside, leaving plenty of crumbs on the carpet.
