PHOENIX – Phoenix-based Fox Restaurant Concepts is expanding to San Diego, Califronia, with plans to open four new restaurants in the near future.
According to the San Diego Tribune, two of the companies newest eateries will be in Fashion Valley, a popular shopping center north of downtown San Diego.
“We love the market, we love the people and we love the area,” Sam Fox, the CEO and founder of the company, said of San Diego on Friday. “It’s a catalyst. I spend a lot of my time in San Diego, and I would actually like to spend more time here.”
Famous for Phoenix-area restaurants such as Wildflower, Blanco Tacos + Tequila, Culinary Dropout and Zinburger, among others, Fox plans to expand a few of his creations to the San Diego-area.
Blanco Tacos + Tequila will occupy a location in Fashion Valley and another in Coronado — a popular tourist destination. The new locations for the modern Mexican restaurant in San Diego will debut an up-to-date look, with a new menu, aesthetics and an expanded cocktail program, according to the Tribune.
Fox will also open a hand-crafted pizza and pasta concept named North Italia in the Fashion Valley mall. North Italia currently has two locations here in the Valley, both in Scottsdale.
A fourth restaurant will open on Coronado’s Orange Avenue, but a name has not been revealed.
Aside from the four restaurants set to open in San Diego in the coming months, Fox told the Tribune he plans on scouting other locations for even more expansion opportunities in the future.
And as far as staffing the new restaurants goes, Fox believes attracting those who work at his Phoenix-based locations to San Diego won’t be an issue.
“I’ll tell you, I haven’t had any problem attracting members of the staff who work in Arizona to come to Coronado,” he said. “Especially in the summer.”
