Weekend freeway restrictions on the way for West Valley commuters

PHOENIX — Interstate 10 in the West Valley will be restricted this weekend, as crews continue construction efforts on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway.
Westbound I-10 between 43rd and 51st avenues will be reduced to three lanes from 10 p.m. Friday to noon on Saturday, as well as from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. on Monday for bridge work.
Additionally, the westbound I-10 off-ramp at 51st Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday to 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Drivers are encouraged to use the exits at 43rd or 75th avenues as an alternate.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 17 will also be under restrictions this weekend.
Scheduled maintenance work from the city of Phoenix will close the off-ramp at 19th Avenue beginning at 6:30 a.m on Saturday. The closure is expected to last until 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Drivers are encouraged to use the Grant Street exit and frontage road as an alternate route.
