PHOENIX — Video of an Arizona dad’s reaction to his 18-year-old son’s pink eye makeup became a viral sensation, garnering more than 6 million views on Twitter.
Andrew Edgerton of Flagstaff has posted several makeup tutorials to YouTube in the past year, and the camera was rolling for his latest lesson when his dad walked in and couldn’t resist commenting.
“That looks so freaking awesome!” was Glenn Edgerton’s emphatic reaction, followed by an expletive.
Andrew tweeted out the 11-second clip on June 18 at the suggestion of a friend, according to Buzzfeed News.
He wrote “why is my dad the sweetest most supportive person ever im crying :’)” with the post, which had 77,000 retweets and 327,000 likes as of Tuesday afternoon.
The story even made it across the Atlantic Ocean to the United Kingdom for a write-up in The Sun.
In a YouTube Q&A posted Sunday, Andrew said he was “shook by the positivity” that greeted the video.
“There were so many positive comments and everyone was so kind and uplifting, and it was so motivational,” he said.
Among the more than 1,000 replies to the tweet were praise for its cuteness and requests to be adopted by Glenn.
“I think his endeavor to work within the makeup industry is awesome and I am just trying to be as supportive as I can,” Glenn told Buzzfeed.
