PHOENIX — If you live in Arizona and you are a fan of Disney-Pixar films — or animated films in general — you are most likely a fan of the 2013 film “Monsters University,” according to CableTV.com.
That’s right, the publication analyzed Google Trends data to determine which of the 20 Disney-Pixar films Arizonans like the most and the answer was the “Monsters, Inc.” prequel.
“Monsters University” follows the main characters of “Monsters, Inc.,” Mike and Sulley, as they make their way through college. The pair, who notably butt heads throughout the 2001 film, start off as rivals but eventually become best friends.
“Monsters University” was also the favorite Pixar film for five other states, while five states also said “Monsters, Inc.” was their most beloved Pixar film.
And the popularity of “Monsters University” followed a national trend: Each Pixar sequel was at least as popular as the first movie of its series.
Seventeen states picked “Finding Dory” as its favorite film, making it the most popular movie “by a landslide.”
Utah had trouble picking its favorite Pixar film: The state had a seven-way tie among “A Bug’s Life,” “Brave,” “Cars 3,” “Inside Out,” “Monsters Inc.”, “The Incredibles” and “Up.”
But no Pixar films were left behind: Not a single one was left off the list of frequently-googled Pixar movies, the publication found.
