PHOENIX — The streak of no rain in the Valley will officially continue, as only trace amounts were detected at Sky Harbor Airport on Saturday.

Despite showers around the outer parts of the Valley and most of the state, the streak of no rain will continue on, and is now up to 97 days.

The staggering figure still remains below last fall’s streak of 103 days, and well behind the 160-day dry spell in 1972, which is the longest in Arizona history.

But despite the — official — lack of precipitation, Valley residents were treated Saturday to abnormally cool temperatures.

Phoenix reached a high of 82 degrees on Saturday, setting a new record for the lowest maximum temperature ever recorded on the day. The previous record was 83 degrees back in 1995.

But as expected, the cooler temperatures won’t last long.

Dry air will move into the area this week, eliminating any chance of rain and raising temperatures to near 110 degrees by Thursday.

We want to hear from you.
