Female hiker airlifted off Camelback Mountain in Phoenix

PHOENIX – Rescue crews from Phoenix and Tempe fire department’s airlifted an adult female hiker off Camelback Mountain in Phoenix Saturday afternoon.
According to Phoenix Fire Captain Jake Van Hook, the 43-year-old had been hiking along the mountain’s Cholla Trail since Saturday morning when she began feeling weak, fatigued and dizzy.
When crews made their way up to the hiker’s location, she was showing signs of dehydration.
Crews started treatment on the mountain, but quickly determined the safest way for her to get down was by helicopter.
After the hiker was flown to crews waiting at the base of the mountain, she was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
No firefighters were injured during the rescue.
