Man dies after being stabbed in Mesa on Saturday morning

PHOENIX — A man died in the hospital after being stabbed in Mesa, a police spokesperson said.

The stabbing took place near 2nd Street and Stapley Drive around 6 a.m. on Saturday.

An acquaintance attempted to drive the victim to the hospital, but pulled over and called 9-1-1 about a mile away.

Police are investigating the stabbing.

They believe it is an isolated incident.
