PHOENIX – A female hiker was airlifted off Camelback Mountain in Phoenix after she had become dehydrated and fatigued, authorities said Sunday.
Phoenix Technical Rescue Teams were called to the Cholla Trail on Camelback Mountain after receiving reports of a woman that was ill.
The 26-year-old told rescue crews that she felt weak and dehydrated.
While attempting to walk her down, rescue crews said the woman started to feel dizzy and fatigued, resulting in the use of the Firebird Rescue Helicopter to airlift her off the mountain.
After a successful hoist operation to the helicopter, the hiker was taken to a nearby landing zone and evaluated.
No firefighters were injured in the rescue.
