PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is looking for two suspects involved in a shooting that left one man hurt outside St. John’s Hospital Thursday.

Around 2:00 p.m., one of the three suspects involved attempted to start a verbal altercation with two men in the emergency room of the hospital at 300 W. Thomas Road, according to police.

The two men ignored the suspect and left the building.

Two hours later, the two men left the hospital and were confronted by the suspect again. At one point, he showed a knife and a fight ensued in the street and in the parking lot.

A burgundy car driving southbound on Third Avenue pulled up during the time of the altercation with two men, the other suspects, with the passenger firing one round and hitting on the victims in the leg.

The victim’s injury is not life-threatening.

The car drove south on Third Avenue as the first suspect with the knife fled on foot.

An off-duty Phoenix Police Sergeant working as hospital security chased the suspect on foot and was able to bring the man into custody.

Names of the suspect caught and the victim shot were not immediately released.

The two suspects in the car have not been caught.

Anyone with any information on the two suspects are urged to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.

We want to hear from you.
