PHOENIX — The Potatoe Fire grew to about 25 acres between 1 and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The brush fire, near Sunflower and east of Highway 87 and south of the Forest Service Road to Mt. Ord, was human-caused and is under investigation, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
Multiple engines, firefighters, Hotshots, air tankers and a helicopter were used to attempt to contain the fire.
No structures were in danger.
Initially, State Route 87 was closed between Bush Highway and SR 188, the Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted.
Around 6 p.m., ADOT tweeted that traffic was moving in both directions, though one northbound lane remains closed.
