A driver ran a red light and hit a police car on Saturday morning, the Gilbert Police Department said.
A passenger in the vehicle and a police officer were taken to the hospital. Neither appear to be in serious condition; Sgt. Mark Marino called it a “precautionary measure.”
The vehicle, heading eastbound, did not stop for a red light and hit the northbound police car on Greenfield and Guadalupe Roads.
Police do not believe the driver was impaired.
The area around the Greenfield and Guadalupe Roads intersection was expected to be closed for the next few hours while the investigation takes place.
