Phoenix police arrest suspect involved in Friday kidnapping

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is searching for a suspect involved in the kidnapping of a nine-year-old that took place during the early hours of Friday morning.
Dakota J. Johnson, 21, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in Phoenix and booked on kidnapping charges.
The victim was not injured during the incident and was able to escape from the suspect on foot.
On Friday, authorities said they were searching for a white male, believed to be in his 30s to early 40s, with red hair and a white baseball hat with black writing. He is of stocky build, wearing a light blue shirt with white writing and gray shorts.
Around 4:00 a.m., police officers responded to a call in the area of 1900 W. Glendale Avenue.
According to authorities, witnesses stated that the victim asked for help and was taken from her home, in the area of 2020 W. Glendale Avenue, by the suspect.
The victim was able to escape on foot and was not injured.
After searching the victim’s house, officers found evidence that matched up with the victim’s statements.
