White House, Trump weigh in on ‘Laurel’ versus ‘Yanny’ debate

The White House has weighed in on the “Laurel” versus “Yanny” debate that has been tearing the internet apart — but the results had a bit of a twist.
A video posted to the White House’s official Twitter account on Thursday might have put the whole debate to rest, but it might have also sparked a new one.

Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter, opened up the video, declaring that it was “so clearly Laurel!”
Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah agreed, but Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway was more willing to see the other side.
“It’s Laurel, but I could deflect and divert to Yanny if you need me to,” Conway said.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took the opportunity to take a jab at the press.
“Clearly you’re getting your information from CNN because that’s fake news,” Sanders said to the cameraman, who said it was “reported that you hear Laurel.”
“All I hear is Yanny.”
Vice President Mike Pence also made an appearance — but was confused by audio clip.
“Who’s Yanny?” he asked.
But the most memorable appearance had to be that of President Donald Trump.
“I hear covfefe,” the president said, referring to a 2017 tweet that went viral due to the misspelling.
