PHOENIX — A delegation from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce is touring Israel in search of business opportunities far from home.

“We’re going to be looking for areas of cooperation on water, financial technology, technology on start-ups, and defense and aerospace,” said Garrick Taylor, spokesman for the Arizona Chamber.

The Arizona delegation also is made up of representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Arizona Department of Commerce, the Arizona Manufacturers Council and Arizona State University.

According to the Arizona Chamber, the trip is intended to strengthen business relationships with Israel. Taylor said Arizona and Israel are committed to solving 21st-century challenges.

Arizona and Israel will likely work closely in the future on projects like turning salt water into drinking water.

“It’s still in the early stages over in our part of the world, but hopefully by collaborating and sharing technology and innovation with one another we can make some real progress in that space,” Taylor said.

“Both Israel and Arizona make water a major priority. So the fact that you have these two water leaders that can get together and compare notes about how best to prepare for the future is really exciting.”

We want to hear from you.
