PHOENIX — A 51-year-old suffered from heat exhaustion and collapsed on Cholla Trail and Camelback Mountain on Sunday afternoon.
Scottsdale and Phoenix Technical Rescue Teams rescued the man, who was unable to speak when officers arrived, said Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson Captain Larry Subervi.
The man began hiking around 11 a.m. and made it most of the way down the trail before being unable to finish, Subervi said. Rescue teams arrived around 2 p.m.
He was given IVs and moved to a stretcher. By the time the man reached the bottom of the mountain, he had recovered enough to speak coherently, Subervi said.
He was taken to a local hospital.
