PHOENIX — A new BASIS charter school was set to open in Scottsdale in the fall.
The latest school will house 350 students between kindergarten and 4th grade.
It will join two other BASIS schools in Scottsdale and 21 across the state.
The new school was located on the northwest corner of Tierra Buena Lane and 76th Street, Arizona Big Media reported.
“The demand for the BASIS Curriculum remains strong in Scottsdale,” BASIS CEO Dr. Peter Bezanson said. “That demand makes sense since Scottsdale was the site of the network’s second school to open in 2003 – a school which is currently ranked No. 1 in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
“The BASIS Curriculum serves younger students exceedingly well – with early paths to learning Mandarin, learning to read, and learning to appreciate science and math, among other subjects,” Bezanson added. “And our two-teacher model for the primary grades also sets our schools apart.”
The two-teacher model consisted of a subject expert teacher, or SET, and a learning expert teacher, or LET.
