LISTEN: Mobile urgent care

PHOENIX — Urgent care that comes to you has arrived in metro Phoenix.

Mercy Care Plan members now have access to this through the plan’s new partnership with DispatchHealth and Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care is also part of this.

This service would allow members to stay comfortable at home while they are ill or injured and avoid emergency room waiting rooms.

“Demand for acute-care services has increased in general,” said DispatchHealth CEO Mark Prather. “Our goal is to deliver the right level of care, in the right setting, at the right cost.”

Prather, who used to be an emergency-room physician, said the practitioners with Dispatch Health are well-trained and supervised.

“Our providers are ER-trained,” he said. “They arrive with treatment capability and training really designed for lower-acute ER visits.”

A board-certified emergency medicine physician supports every team as they are dispatched to provide on-demand care.

Kevin Riddleberger, the co-founder of DispacthHealth, said this improves patient experience and decreases the cost of care.

He also said it could help doctors find environmental issues.

“(On-demand urgent care) enables our teams to gain insight into a patient’s environment that isn’t available in a traditional clinical setting,” he said. “This insight can help a care team address issues that may impede the healing, health and well-being of the patient.”

The service is available seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., all year long. Services include on-site suturing, IV fluids and IV-medication administration, UTI treatment, catheter insertion, and even mobile imaging like X-rays if needed.

Mercy Care members can access DispatchHealth through its smartphone app, a phone call to 480-493-3444 or going to dispatchhealth.com

We want to hear from you.
