Silver Alert canceled for previously missing 69-year-old Gilbert man

Mar 30, 2018, 7:32 PM | Updated: 9:18 pm

PHOENIX – A Silver Alert has been canceled for a once-missing 69-year-old Gilbert man who was last heard from around 9 a.m. Friday morning.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, John Gentile left his Gilbert home around 5:30 p.m. Thursday night.

He contacted his wife around 6 p.m., telling her that he was lost near the intersection of Power and Southern roads in Mesa and would find his way home.

Gentile previously suffered from heart failure and for that reason is known to have a pacemaker for his heart. He has a history of high blood pressure and suffers from early stages of dimensia.

Worried about him getting tired while driving due to his medical conditions, his wife told him to stay at a nearby hotel to rest.

Gentile again contacted his wife at 9 a.m. Friday morning, telling her that he knew how to get home from South Mountain and would be home soon.

A ping to his cellphone later showed his last known location to be near the Kings Ranch Road and the U.S. 60 in Gold Canyon around 3:40 p.m. Friday.

Gentile was located and reunited with his family on Friday night.

We want to hear from you.
