PHOENIX — A Goodyear-based cancer treatment center said in a press release Tuesday that it planned to open two outpatient care centers in the Valley this month.
The Cancer Treatment Centers of America had already opened one center near the Interstate 17 and the Loop 101 in north Phoenix on March 12.
The other center will be located near 90th Street and Loop 101 in Scottsdale. It was expected to open on March 26.
A third Valley location was scheduled to open later this year, but the details on that location were not released.
The outpatient care centers would offer the same oncology care as is available in the Goodyear hospital in an effort to provide patients with “access to a range of certified specialists.”
Those specialists include oncology nutrition, massage therapy, acupuncture and other supportive therapies.
“Clinical advancements in cancer care have significantly changed the way in which we treat the disease, including offering patients access to the most advanced treatment options in a convenient, more cost-effective outpatient setting,” Raj Garg, the president and CEO, said in a statement.
“[Cancer Treatment Centers of America] outpatient care centers will provide patients medical oncology treatment and integrative care at the hands of highly respected…oncology experts.”
The Cancer Treatment Centers of America also announced that it would be a contracted provider in Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona’s PPO and HMO networks starting April 1.
“We are always looking for opportunities to expand access to quality care for our members,” Paige Rothermel, the insurer’s chief growth officer, said.
“Our in-network agreement with Cancer Treatment Centers of America will make more cancer services available to those in need.”
Marnee Spierer, the chief of staff and chief of radiation oncology, said patients deserve “access to the most advanced, evidence-based treatment options available” by a team of doctors who work to provide the “best possible care.”
“I became a doctor to help as many people as possible, and with the expansion of our physical locations and our relationship with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, our physicians and I have more opportunities to do just that.”
