PHOENIX — Summer is right around the corner here in Phoenix — and residents could begin to feel the heat as early as this week.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in the city are expected to reach 90 degrees on Thursday.

If that made you groan, you should avoid The Weather Channel’s forecast: It is predicting a high temperature of 92 degrees in Phoenix on Thursday.

Luckily, the above-average temperatures are not expected to stick around for too long.

Both forecasts are predicting highs between 76 and 79 degrees on Friday, with partial clouds. The Weather Channel was even predicting a 20 percent chance of rain.

The National Weather Service said that Sunday could have been the last day until November that the high temperatures in Phoenix were expected to drop below 70 degrees.

Phoenix was well-known for its hot summers, which typically feature high temperatures that are in the triple digits.

The average number of 100-plus degree days that Phoenix has is 50. The warmest temperature ever recorded in Phoenix was 122 degrees on June 26, 1990, according to South West Weather.
