PHOENIX — A major manufacturing company will soon relocate its operations from southern California to a Phoenix area city.
IAC Industries, described as the “leading U.S. manufacturer of durable industrial workstations, workbenches, packing tables, laboratory furniture, lab benches and LAN stations,” will move its manufacturing operations to Goodyear, the Phoenix Business Journal reported.
The company, which is based in Brea, California, purchased a 50,000-square-foot building near the Phoenix Goodyear Airport for $3 million and will invest another $1 million into the building to set up manufacturing operations.
The Goodyear facility will be the head of production for sheet metal, welding and fabrications operations and painting, laminating and assembly work. Front office and other non-productions operation will remain in California.
Matt McConnell, the director of IAC Industries, told the publication that the facility will house 55 workers by next month. Twenty of those employees will be transferring from Brea.
“After nearly 30 years in southern California, we are confident our decision to relocate to the Grand Canyon State will prove prosperous for our company and the city of Goodyear,” he said.
“Arizona has a tremendous pool of talented people, many of whom we look forward to have joining our operations.”
In a statement, Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord said the city was looking forward to welcoming the company.
“We are thrilled that IAC Industries selected Goodyear as the location for their new manufacturing plant.”
The facility was expected to be fully operational in May.
