This week’s news about Toys R Us closing all of its stores apparently hit some parts of the internet pretty hard.
In case you were unaware, the chain announced on Wednesday that it would close all of its locations, including at least 13 in Arizona.
Some expressed their remorse on Twitter or Facebook, but one popular YouTuber, Chase Holfelder, decided to create a sad homage of his own: He rewrote the chain’s theme song in a minor key and slowed it way down.
The resulting song — complete with a couple twists — sounded like something that should be played at a funeral.
Holfeder made a music video for his mournful ditty that looked like that same funeral.
His piano was covered in small white candles and toys and a block of bricks spelled out “RIP TOYS R US.”
In case you want to sing along, here are the words to Holfelder’s jingle:
“I don’t want to grow up, I’m a Toys R Us kid. There’s a million toys at Toys R Us that I can play with. From bikes and trains to video games, it was the biggest toy store there is.
“I don’t want to grow up, because if I did, I wouldn’t be a Toys R Us kid.”
