PHOENIX — It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, meaning more corned beef and cabbage, green beer and a heightened police presence.
The Mesa Police Department announced its DUI enforcement plans for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
Beginning Thursday and lasting until Saturday night, Mesa police will be out conducting DUI enforcement as it supports the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety DUI St. Patrick’s Task Force. The emphasized hours will be from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The task force’s mission is to get impaired drivers off the roads, making the streets safer for Valley residents. Stopping collisions related to drunk driving will in turn help limit the amount of injuries and fatalities associated with driving impaired.
The Chandler Police Department is also getting involved for the holiday, conducting DUI checks as well as the Know Your Limit awareness program that educates the public on the effects alcohol has on the human body.
If anyone sees any reckless, unsafe or suspected DUI driving, contact your local authorities.
