PHOENIX — Prescott, Ariz. was ranked ninth in the country in overall well-being and ranked fourth in the community category of the survey.

The Phoenix metropolitan area was ranked No. 48, while Tucson came in at No. 88.

According to the report, Prescott ranked in the top quintile of all five categories the report took into consideration: purpose, social, financial, community and physical.

Prescott finished in the top 10 in the social and financial categories and top 20 in the purpose and physical categories. Communities that finished in the top 38 of any category were considered to be in the highest quintile.

The Central Arizona city of Prescott is well-known for its active downtown bar scene known as Whiskey Row. Watson Lake, in the northeast part of the city, is home to many species of wildlife and a vast circuit of hiking trails.

The Phoenix metropolitan area was ranked in the top quintile in the purpose category, coming in at No. 34. It also finished No. 67 in the community category and No. 72 in finance.

Tucson finished outside of the top 100 in the financial and community categories, but was ranked No. 55 in social.

Results of the report were based on over 300,000 phone interviews, while NCH Healthcare System and The Blue Zones Project assisted with creating the criteria and categories.

The top community in the survey for the third year in a row was Naples, Fla.
