PHOENIX — A 27-year-old man was fatally shot by two Phoenix police officers Friday after he allegedly pointed his gun and fired at police.
According to Sgt. Alan Pfohl of the Phoenix Police Department, officers were called to a scene near 59th Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of a couple arguing in the street.
When officers arrived, the male suspect, David Gardea, allegedly pointed a gun towards one of the officers before turning and running down the street.
Officers fired toward Gardea as he continued to point his gun in their direction.
When he reached a driveway, Gardea turned and shot toward the officers, who then returned fire, killing him.
The officers were not injured during the incident.
