PHOENIX — An Arizona woman’s name has been popping up as a possibility to take over as White House communications director when Hope Hicks officially leaves.
Business Insider put together a list of some of the top rumors out there and a name that seemed to be mentioned more than once was Stephanie Grisham.
She was hired to be Melania Trump’s communications director in March after working as a spokeswoman for the Arizona House and on President Donald Trump’s campaign.
“[Grisham] is a wonderful addition to the team,” Melanie Trump said in a statement at the time to CNN.
“She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the job, and will be an incredible asset to my office as we build out our agenda, preserve our country’s rich traditions and serve the American people.”
The New York Times reported Grisham was just one of two people Donald Trump feels positive about who are left from his 2016 campaign team in the White House.
Grisham took a leave from her Arizona job shortly after the Legislature adjourned in May to work on press for the president’s campaign.
Grisham, who later resigned from her House job, worked on the president’s transition team before being hired by the first lady.
We will have to wait and see if Grisham will be officially considered for the job. Hicks, who resigned Wednesday, won’t leave her post for weeks.
Grisham would also have to top other potential hires, including White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and senior adviser Stephen Miller.
