PHOENIX — Gilbert is no stranger to food trucks, but a special Hello Kitty-themed one will be rolling into the Phoenix suburb this weekend.
On its Facebook page, the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck said it would be at SanTan Village — located near the Loop 202 and Williams Field Road — starting on Saturday morning.
Organizers said the truck will be parked near the American Eagle Outfitters store from 10 a.m to 8 p.m., depending on how long its supplies hold out.
The truck serves a variety of Hello Kitty dishes, including cookies, tarts and cakes. It also sells plenty of Hello Kitty gear, should you need to stock up.
The company has two food trucks that cruise around the country. A check of its social media pages showed they seem to nearly split the United States in two, with one working the west side of the country while the other moves around the east.
One of the trucks was in Scottsdale in December. More than 300 people said on Facebook they attended the event, while about 700 more had indicated they were interested.
Hello Kitty is a signature character created by Yuko Shimizu. The cat-like character has taken the world by storm since it was introduced in 1947 and is featured on everything from clothing to school supplies.
It was estimated that the character was worth about $7 billion in 2014.
