PHOENIX — The Milwaukee Brewers will soon have some fancy digs to call their spring home.

The team committed last year to staying at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix for spring training for 25 years after reaching a multimillion deal with the city.

As part of the deal — part of which focused on funding renovations at the Cactus League site — the Brewers released renderings for the renovation project at Maryvale on Wednesday.

Brewers Vice President Tyler Barnes told KTAR News 92.3 FM that the renovations are set to include a renovated clubhouse, batting tunnels, agility field and practice mounds.

The concourse itself will also be widened, with remodeled restrooms and concession stands, Barnes said.

“One of the challenges we’ve had with the facility is a narrow concourse, where fans come down to the facility by right field,” he said.

Construction is scheduled to begin in late March, once this year’s spring training season wraps up, and is expected to be complete by the start of the 2019 spring training season.

The Brewers will invest up to $60 million in the construction phase of the program, according to a press release, and will assume operation and maintenance costs after this year’s spring training season.

The city of Phoenix will allocate $2 million each year over the next five years for renovations, while the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority will contribute about $5.7 million.

The deal reached by the city and the team in November means that the Brewers will call Maryvale as its spring home until 2042.
