PHOENIX — Those who were looking to shred the gnar in northern Arizona on President’s Day will have to revise their plans.

The Arizona Snowbowl announced Monday that it would be closed for the holiday due to high winds.

But the facility will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, it announced.

The National Weather Service said a powerful cold front was set to sock much of northern and east-central Arizona with very strong winds and snow through Monday.

Forecasts called for wind gusts up to 60 mph (97 kph) on Monday, making for difficult driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Predicted 72-hour snowfall amounts include up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) in downtown Flagstaff, up to 3 inches (7 centimeters) at Window Rock and up 4 inches (10 centimeters) at Show Low inches.

Snowfall is expected to decrease Monday night. Very cold temperatures will follow on Tuesday.
