PHOENIX – The official theme and list of events for the 2018 Phoenix Pride Festival and Parade has been announced, and festival-goers are in for jam-packed weekend.

As a sign of strength, unity and the quest for equality for everyone regardless of background, “United We Stand, Equality for All,” was announced at a public event on Thursday as the official theme and slogan for Phoenix Pride.

Along with the official theme, Berlin featuring Terri Nunn, Bebe Rexha and Valley native and “American Idol” finalist David Hernandez were announced as the headliners on the Bud Light Main Stage at the festival.

Kristine W., who was named Billboard Magazine’s Top Three Dance Artist of the Decade, and Grammy-Winner Thelma Houston are also scheduled to headline the event.

Valley native and veteran NBA referee Bill Kennedy was named the grand marshal of the parade. Kennedy’s refereeing career has been highlighted by a 2009 incident in which he ejected former Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers after he had made Kennedy the subject of anti-gay remarks.

The Phoenix Pride Festival and Parade is the largest LGBTQ event in Arizona. In 2017, more than 37,000 people visited the festival over the course of the two days.

The parade, which is held on the second day of the event in downtown Phoenix, had more then 3,000 participants along with more than 10,000 spectators.

The 2018 Phoenix Pride Festival will be held on April 7-8 at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix, with the parade scheduled for April 8 in downtown.

Tickets for the Pride Festival range from $15 to $75, with single, two-day and VIP passes available.
