Police looking for Phoenix robbery suspects [RE-BROADCAST OF 5/13/2013]

Feb 12, 2018, 5:00 AM

Our first unsolved case takes us to the Sunnyslope neighborhood — 18th Avenue and Dunlap Road. A man who lives in the area was walking to a nearby ATM on Monday, March 11, 2013 at about 2 a.m.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Darrin Burch said the man came upon two guys near the bank and began talking to them.

“What’s interesting is these two suspects were walking a dog, a black-and-white pitbull which they called ‘Missy,'” said Burch.

Maybe the victim had stopped to admire the dog. At any rate, he went on to the ATM and withdrew some cash.

“And out of nowhere they began attacking him, beating him and taking his money.”

What’s worse, said Burch, “The victim’s roommate went looking for him and he also got robbed and beaten for his troubles.”

By the very same guys.

Burch said because they were walking a dog, the suspects may live in the area.

Next, police are trying to catch some burglars in Paradise Valley.

“Between October 2012 and February 2013 there have been no less than 18 residential burglaries in the town of Paradise Valley,” Burch said.

Many of the burglaries have happened on Saturday evenings. Police said they throw an object through a glass window or door to get in then head straight for the master bedroom and grab the jewelry.

The burglars set off the alarms at most of the homes they hit, but they’re in and out so quickly that they’re gone before police get there.
