PHOENIX — Arizona is pushing to host yet another Super Bowl in the near future.
According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the state is currently putting forth efforts to host a Super Bowl as early as 2023.
The National Football League currently has Super Bowls slated for 2019 through 2022 in Atlanta, Miami, Tampa and Los Angeles, but there are still openings for 2023 and beyond.
If picked, this would be Arizona’s fourth time hosting the Super Bowl. The big game was hosted at the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe in 1996 and at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale in in 2008 and 2015.

However, the state is likely to have lots of competition from big-name cities: Dallas, New Orleans, Houston and Santa Clara, California are expected to be in the running, and a new stadium being built in Las Vegas could likely be in the mix.
The publication also said that the Arizona Cardinals are “spearheading regional efforts to attract another Super Bowl,” but will need support from tourism and economic development groups, business leaders and elected officials.
Scott Dunn with the Arizona Office of Tourism said the state’s tourism industry will back any Super Bowl recruitment effort.
The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots are facing off in this year’s Super Bowl in Minneapolis.
But Beau Lane, the founder and CEO of the Phoenix-based advertising agency LaneTerralever said the northeastern cold could convince organizers to hold the big game in warmer climates.
“This town is really built for Super Bowls,” he said.
Lane also added that the process for determining Super Bowl cities is “moving away from the more formal and time-consuming presentations.”
