PHOENIX — The spread of famous deep-dish pizza joints in the Valley continues: Giordano’s will reportedly open another location soon, this time in north Phoenix.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported that a sign advertising the Chicago-based chain’s future location was posted on a building across from Paradise Valley Mall, located near Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard.
The sign read “Chicago famous deep dish pizza coming soon” and included the Giordano’s logo.
However, the company had not returned emails asking it to confirm the location.
The restaurant would open replace the old Bonefish Grill, which closed its doors late last year. The building has about 7,000 square feet of space.
Giordano’s first Arizona location opened more than a year ago near 83rd Avenue and Bell Road in Glendale.
The chain has 62 stores across seven states.
Giordano’s began testing the Arizona market four years ago, when it sent a food truck loaded with delicious pies to Sloan Park, the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs. It was the first time its food truck left the state of Illinois.
The Phoenix area is becoming a magnet for Chicago pizza chains. Rival chain Lou Malnati’s opened its doors near Central Avenue and Camelback Road in 2016. That chain has since added more locations in the Valley.
Another big chain, Gino’s East, has a location near Indian School Road and 36th Street.
