PHOENIX — A Glendale boy had his night — heck, probably his year — made on Saturday when country music star Brad Paisley brought him on stage.
Paisley was at Gila River Arena as part of his Weekend Warriors World Tour when he called for 9-year-old Vedder Gabriel up on stage.
A YouTube video (WARNING: LINK CONTAINS FOUL LANGUAGE) of the pair’s interaction showed Paisley might have “met” Gabriel online, as he said “I saw you on Twitter.”
Paisley introduced the boy to the crowd, who cheered.
Gabriel told Paisley he loved his music before the singer began strumming his hit “Last Time for Everything” on the guitar.
Gabriel wasted no time and began belting out the lyrics: “Using a fake ID at a college bar, getting caught with a girl in the backseat of a car, running out on the field for the senior game wearing No. 17, there’s a last time for everything.”
The crowd erupted in more cheers as Paisley brought the song to an abrupt halt and told Gabriel to head back to his dad.
However, he hardly walked away empty-handed. Paisley gave Gabriel the very guitar he was playing and some parting words.
“Learn some more songs so I don’t have to do this anymore,” he said. “You can just come up here and play.”
Yup. Year made.
