PHOENIX — The I-10 eastbound at Riggs Road has been reopened after a fatal crash earlier on Saturday morning caused the road to close.
Earlier in the day, traffic was rerouted to Route 87 and Route 587 after a crashed involving a pedestrian forced a shut down of the I-10 eastbound at Riggs Road for more than three hours.
I-10 update: The backup is growing for the eastbound crash-related closure at Riggs. Also, note delays on southbound SR 587 to the south of SR 87. Allow lots of extra travel time. Closure likely to remain a few more hours. #PhxTraffic pic.twitter.com/hYljB31XeX

The accident caused back ups in and around Chandler as commuters were forced to take alternate routes to their destinations.
ADOT also tweeted that it may take some time for the road to fully recover to clear traffic.
