PHOENIX – Thrill-seekers now have a new and exciting way to view Arizona’s most historic landmark.
A new zip line attraction opened on Jan. 2 at the Hualapai Ranch at the Grand Canyon, giving those daring enough to embark on a ride for a bird’s-eye view.
According to Travel and Leisure Magazine, there are two sets of quad zip lines, allowing four people to embark on the journey at the same time. On the line itself, riders reach speeds of up to 45 miles per hour more than 1,000 feet above the canyon.
Riders have the option of choosing between two different zip line runs, one that is 1,100 feet in length and another that is 2,100 feet.
Candida Hunter, the chairwoman of the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation Board of Directors, said that the goal is to take the west rim to a “new level” of excitement.
“The zip line at Grand Canyon West gives our guests a unique adrenaline surge that will be one of the longest and most exciting zip lines found anywhere in the world,” she said to Travel and Leisure.
The zip line costs $89 per person and is expected to host nearly 350,000 visitors per year. For more information on the zip line at Grand Canyon West, including hours of operation can be found on the attraction’s website.
