PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning motorists to drive with caution Saturday as a cold front moves across northern Arizona.
ADOT officials said drivers should be cautious of current conditions and to be aware that conditions can change quickly.
The storm is expected to bring “rapidly falling snow levels” into this evening with snow showers decreasing late Saturday night.
Hazardous driving conditions are reported on Interstates 17 and 40 in the Flagstaff area as snow falls across parts of northern and eastern Arizona.
Officials say there are reports of slide-offs and crashes as roadways become slick from snow and recommend motorists play it safe and delay travel rather than trying to travel in the storm.
Flagstaff is expected to get four to six inches of snow while the North Rim near the Grand Canyon is expected to receive as much as 12 inches of snowfall, according to the The National Weather Service.
As of 5 p.m., Arizona Snowbowl reported eight inches of snowfall and officials expect the area could get hit with three additional inches of snow overnight.
