PHOENIX — A Flagstaff elementary school teacher has been arrested on suspicion of child molestation and sexual conduct with a minor.
According to the Flagstaff Police Department, 37-year-old Ted Komada was taken into custody over the weekend, was released after his initial court appearance and then arrested again.
Komada was first arrested on a charge of sexual conduct with a minor and was then arrested on a child molestation charge after officials further investigated the incidents.
Police did not release many details, but said the charges were based on “conduct that occurred outside of the school setting.”
The department identified Komada as an employee of the Flagstaff Unified School District, but did not specify which school he worked for.
According to the Arizona Daily Sun, Komada was a teacher and chess coach at Killip Elementary School and had been at the school for 14 years.
Komada submitted his resignation over the weekend to the Flagstaff Unified School District. He is being held at the Coconino County Jail on a $25,000 bond and it is not clear whether he has a lawyer.
