PHOENIX — If you are considering retirement soon, Arizona is one of the best places to be.

According to WalletHub, Arizona has ranked among the top 10 states in the nation for residents to retire for the second year in a row.

Todd Sanders with the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce said the ranking was a no-brainer because the Grand Canyon state has a lot to offer.

“Clearly, we have some of the best hospital systems in the country,” Sanders said. “One of the other things that makes us attractive is that we are one of the more affordable places to live, to buy a home.”

“Our quality of life, transportation system and health care system are among the best in the country,” he added. “From that perspective, its good to see validation.”

However, it looks like Arizona might be slipping on the list: Last year the state ranked as the eighth best place in the nation to retire before falling to the No. 10 spot this year.

The cause of that lower rank may be due to the workforce that is available to older people: Arizona ranked No. 48 in the nation for the number of people in the workforce who are 65 and older.
