Sedona named as the best small town to visit in Arizona

PHOENIX — Sedona has been regularly linked as a top destination in the state and was recently named as the top small town to visit in Arizona.
In an article published by Thrillist, Sedona was chosen to represent the state of Arizona in part because of its red rock formations and desert landscapes.
A small town located between Phoenix and Flagstaff, Sedona made the latest list based on its low population of 10,280. Towns were required to have a population under 60,000 to qualify as a small town for the ranking.
Sedona made a similar list in the Conde Nast Traveler magazine last year.
The landscape surrounding Sedona offers plenty of options when it comes to hiking, climbing or just merely walking around. Sedona is filled with multiple spas, restaurants and stores for shopping.
Thrillist also highlights the nightlife of nearby Flagstaff as a reason why Sedona was best small town to visit in Arizona.
Sedona thrives in large part because of its visitors and, in 2016, Red Rock News estimated that over 65 percent of the picturesque city’s operating budget was generated by tourism.
Towns in neighboring states that made the list include San Luis Obispo, California; Elko, Nevada; Moab, Utah; Telluride, Colorado; and Silver City, New Mexico.
