Phoenix-area master communities ranked among best in nation

PHOENIX — Phoenix landed three of the top spots for the best master-planned communities of 2017, according to analysis from a real estate consulting firm.
The analysis, from John Burns Real Estate Consulting, listed the Phoenix-area master-planned communities in its top 50 master-planned communities of 2017.
The breakdown factored in marketing strategies, market, segmentation and amenity. The top 50 masterplans sold a combined 28,329 homes last year.
In Phoenix, the study pointed to “phenomenal” 2017 sales to earn the designation.

Developers and builders report improved demand across the full spectrum of buyer types and submarkets. Steady job growth supports demand, with a boost from retirees in Phoenix and Californians relocating to Las Vegas. Phoenix and Las Vegas are still gaining traction in their recoveries following their huge construction booms and busts.
The Phoenix communities Eastmark, Vistancia and Verrado all ranked in the top 30 out of 370 masterplans.
Eastmark, which ranked No. 6, is located in the East Valley near Ray and Ellsworth roads and features a visitor’s center, an event pavilion and a diner.
Vistancia, which ranked 21st, is located in Peoria near Lone Mountain Parkway and Blackstone Drive and features several parks, walking trail and golf course.
Ranked No. 26, Verrado is located along Pasadena Avenue in Buckeye. The community features a coffee shop and visitor center and a pizzeria and wine bar.
In 2017, the market share of master-planned communities rose four percent in the last year.
