Second-annual Chandler Film Festival to kick off this week

PHOENIX — The Chandler International Film Festival will be held this week, allowing independent filmmakers from across the globe to showcase their talents in the Valley.
The festival, which is in its second year, will be held from Jan. 12 to 15 at different venues across Chandler.
According to its website, the event is described as a “non-profit, diverse and pioneering film festival” that is “dedicated to the advancement of social and cultural awareness through education and delivered on the artistic platform of filmmaking.”
More than 150 films will be screened at the event, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday with a multicultural festival and red carpet ceremony. It then will continue for three more days, capping off with an award ceremony on Monday. Filmmakers will also be taking part in educational workshops.
“These unique, creative and diverse films come from passionate, independent global filmmakers bringing novel ideas and varied art forms to the craft,” the website read.
Events for the film festival will be held at San Marcos Resort Crowne Plaza, Harkins Theater Crossroads 12, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the downtown stage and library, Crust, Ghett’ Yo’ Taco and The Local.
Tickets for the event range from $35 for general admission on Friday to $330 for a package that includes VIP admission to all three days.
